THE F.A.Q.S

Why the caps on fandoms and characters?
Because we don't want so many fandoms that players and characters are lost in the shuffle. We also don't want one fandom to outweight and overshadow another. It's hard to play a smaller fandom when you have 20+ characters from another represented. Should all thirty slots get filled up, we'll open the game to more. However, we will only ever allow 10 characters per fandom.

Can we play actors from a tv show or a tv host?
Only if they're fictional. We don't allow reality television stars, faux reality stars, or television show hosts. If they exist in real life, they aren't allowed.

What about characters who can teleport/time travel?
They're allowable, but their abilities won't work like they might be used to. Teleportation will only get you around the island - not off it, and time travel won't really work at all. You can't move forward into the future or the past and you can't get off the island - no matter what.

Can I age characters up from their canon age? (Toddlers to adults, etc.)
No. You can only age a character up if there is canon evidence. ("One Tree Hill" characters were aged, Veronica Mars was aged, "Heroes" characters have been aged, etc.)

The fandom I want to apply for is at capacity, what does that mean? Can I still apply?
Unfortunately, if a fandom is at capacity, you cannot apply for a character in said fandom. We are only allowing for ten characters per fandom.

My character can speak/understand lots of languages, has the power of persuasion, can compel people, etc.? Can they effect/understand the natives?
No. The natives are as mystical as the island they live on. They're impervious to any sort of glamor, persuasion, etc. and their language is a mystery to everyone. They can, however, be killed.

What is my character allowed to have on him/her when they arrive on the island?
Anything they would typically carry. This means cellphones, wallets, etc. If they generally always have it on them, they'll have it with them on the island. This does NOT include, however, things they can't keep on their person. If you're not sure, just ask.

Mythological characters are blocked! What if I want to play Cupid/Ares/Zeus/etc?
Unfortunately, we aren't allowing them in game. We see these more as historical/religious figures than an actual "fandom" of any sort. The only exception to this is would be if you're playing them as they are represented in a fandom. (Examples: Ares from "Xena", Cupid from "Supernatural", Anubis from "Stargate", etc.)

Do all characters arrive at the same time, or as they are added to the game?
Each character arrives as it is added to the game, so there will be some who have been on the island longer than others. The day you are added into the game is the day your character arrives to the island.

If a character was in the game previously and I'm picking it up again, do I have to stick to the history they had in-game?
No. When a character has left the island, that "version" of the character is gone forever. ICly, the Island has chosen to remove them for its own reasons. When a new "version" comes in, they will have no recollection of their previous time on the island.

However, it is best to try and at least get informed on what happened with the character previously, because while your character won't recall what happened while they were on the island before, island-bound characters will remember.

What's up the with smoke monster?
Similar to the smoke monster on the TV show Lost, our monster is something of a mystery to those on the Island. It shows up in various incarnations of people who are familiar to our residents (though it always takes on the form of someone dead). It is a dangerous force to be reckoned with and even the immortals who have shown up on the Island can be killed by it (yes, all immortals). The true nature of the monster will be revealed over the course of the game.

What do the huts look like? What are the huts stocked with when my character wakes up in them?
The list of things found in the huts, as well as what the huts look like and how they are placed can be found here. You can also take a look here for things that are and are not found on the Island.

If a character is from a video game, you just have to find a PB that resembles who the character in the game looks like. That could be the voice actor or not, depending on whether or not the creators modeled the character after the voice actor or not.

Yes! Sorry for the delay in that. The mod team had to touch base on hut assignments before the acceptance notes were posted.

Are characters allowed that have died in canon?

Yes, they are. We have Elle Bishop from Heroes and a couple other dead characters as well.

Sorry it's taken so long to get back to you! I had to consult the other moderators.

Tinker Bell is allowed, but since there's no canon instance of her as a human, she would have to be a fairy. However, due to the Island's mystical abilities, she'll be human-sized and she'll be able to talk like a human and others will be able to understand her (instead of the whole... sounding like bells thing).

Would that be alright? Or, if you like, she can still be her original fairy-sized. Just let us know!
