THE RULES

The Basics...
Don't be a jackass. Follow the rules, don't mix IC and OOC, don't godmod or powerplay, respect other players, don't steal, and just follow basic RP etiquette.

Canon > Crack...
Canon portrayals are mandatory. People don't change and neither do characters. Veronica Mars will always be nosy, Max will never use guns. Canon sexuality must be honored and relationships must develop over time. No incest (unless explicitly stated in canon).

Stay Active...
Games cannot live if players are not active. We need to see at least one post from each character in ~island_net and at least one fresh thread participation each month.

In order to pick up another character in the game, you need to make it through one activity check (one month) with your latest character in order to do so. Also, role-hogging is not tolerated and if you fail to be steadily active and only manage to meet the barest minimum requirements for more than one round of removals, you will be asked to drop your character on the second round.

Characters...
You can have as many characters as you are capable of successfully keeping active. However, you are only allowed TWO characters per fandom (one major and one minor/recurring, but ONLY if they don't interact in the fandom and have no serious history together). Multiple versions of characters are not allowed, with the exception of situations in which the character is a baby born in game and the adult comes in [ie Luke and Leia]. You are obligated to use the PB of a character in whatever television/movie fandom you're playing in.

Journals...
Your journal must be descriptive of your character. No extra xs and no excessive underscores. The journal must also be for this game exclusively.

Concerning writing in the journals, your characters can "filter" things to others by labeling the filtered sections of entries as "Private to" or "Blocked From", "Character A/Character B", etc. ~~Strike throughs~~ are considered unreadable, as if someone wrote something and then deleted it. Characters cannot see icons.

Canon Puncturing...
Don't do it. Don't have your characters running around telling others they're fake. Just ignore it. Sure, your character can drop pop-culture references, but DON'T CALL PEOPLE OUT FOR BEING FICTIONAL. ALSO ignore the fact that characters have the same faces. They look similar, but don't acknowledge them as "the same person" or identical twins/clones/doppelganger/etc.

Writing...
Absolutely, positively NO one-liners. Third-person storybook style is the way to go with no asterisks-style RPing allowed. Lack in quantity does NOT equal quality. At least two full paragraphs minimum when writing scenes, please. No playing with yourself - the occasional narrative or brief encounter is fine, but no playing with strictly yourself or commenting yourself back and forth. If your character is involved in something important (discovering hatches or anything, dealing with injuries, etc.), it MUST be posted in the main community or it doesn't count.

When posting threads/logs, place the text of the log/starter behind a cut and please adhere to the following format:
Characters: the who
Setting: the where
Summary: the what/why
Rating: G-NC17
Warnings: blood, sex, language, etc.

Icons...
We don't care if you have text, borders, etc. on your icons and we don't care if you have foreheads or not. The one thing we DO care about is that you use icons of your character only. Don't use icons of your PB from anywhere other than their fandom. (Ex. Don't use icons of Jared Padalecki on "Gilmore Girls" for your Sam Winchester.) CREDIT icons if you're using them from someone else.

If You Break the Rules...
We operate on a three strike system, meaning you get three warnings for breaking most rules before you're subject to removal. Exceptions to this are: godmodding/powerplaying and OOC portrayals in which you will only receive one warning.
